Current research
Comparative assessment on the foraging success of Southern elephant seals in variable environments off Kerguelen Island and the plateau.
What my project involves
Using tracking data of Southern elephant seals tagged on Kerguelen Island from 2004-2022, I will be comparing and contrasting the relationship between the foraging ecology (dive metrics) and foraging success (drift dive metrics) of elephant seals foraging in two different oceanographic regions (dynamic east environment vs. zonal west environment). The study will improve knowledge on the relationship between environment and performance and will help understand the persistence of the population.

About me
I grew up in a small coastal town in the south-west of Western Australia. I completed my Bachelor of Science in Coastal and Marine Science at Curtin University in Perth.
Previous work I've done
I spent a season in 2022 on the Nullarbor at the Head of Bight collecting observational data and photo identification of Southern right whales. Across 2022 and 2023 I also spent time collecting observational data on killer whales at the Bremer Bay hotspot.
